One of the very best things that we can do to nurture our capacity for genius is to occassionally refresh & challenge our thinking by breaking away from the cynical bastards who thrive on playing Devil’s Advocate to your beat your bright ideas into submission. And instead: hang out with others who dare to think and share wild & original thoughts.. and do it in a relaxed and playful environment. This is the basis of accelerated learning – it’s brain-friendly and pops us effortlessly into the realm of inspired & innovative problem-solving. Fun is the very best way to generate brilliance and superlearning’s extraordinary results
[Here in South Africa we've been doing this within the framework of geek dinners: where outstanding ideas, projects, alliances and good friendships have been forged].
The next in the series will see us heading to the Garden Route >> a whole bunch of us from Cape Town (the Marketing Geek, the Web AddiCTs, Stormhoek’s Cpt Chris, the iconic Tania, and more to come :) will be hopping on Uno‘s bus.
Roadtripping with mates in late summer up the coast for a party.. who could say no?! The excellent groupgenius-gang from eActive (who have so much energy it’s startling) Stii, TresBlue & Jayx are organising so it’s in good hands].
These are the kind of adventures that may be out of our normal routine, a little uncomfortable initially because you may not know anyone yet, it may feel like a schlep to have to plan.. but isn’t it just these kind of events that make life memorable? (but fortune favours the brave). Do it for the social currency = (“so what did you do this weekend?” “hung out with this bunch of crazyass geeks at a geek dinner in George” “what?” just like that – instant convo for next Monday morning).
So if you’re in SA, especially if you’re in Cape Town or along the Garden Route. Go do something crazy & character-building – sign up on the wiki & join us. It may change the trajectory of your career (we’re working on some really interesting projects & hunting talent & gr8 ideas all the time!) or at the very least you’ll meet some passionate & hilarious geeks (on a game farm in George!) who may become really good friends ;-)

Ice to eskimos carls? I don’t think inviting peoples to a Geek Dinner in the Garden Route of all places should be difficult to sell. After all it’s the bestest, beautifullest place in the hole universe and it’s only a stoned throws away from the motherless city. It’s bound to be a big bang and even I can sell that. All you motherloaders get on the Unobus and come joint us in George on Fry-day the 9th of February at the Kwelanga Lodge or read about it in on Monday after and envy the overhang.

I love the Geek Dinner logo. Who designed it? I am going to push for a Geek Dinner here at Reading, Berkshire, England, United Kingdom, Great Britain, Europe.
Above is my piss-take of the American TV commentators who always refer to London as , “London , England” or Paris, France, or Beirut, Lebanon” Cape Town, Zimbabwe” but do not say, “New York, America”
Why?
Back to the logo. So if the dinner gets support than I’d really like to know if I can borrow it with the word READING inserted.
Come back good buddy! O&U
