SA Blog Awards shock! sitting at the table with the cool kids

7 March 2007 17 Comments

..how I did it, I’m not sure (on my pretty but decidedly malnourished site, starved of attention & daily feeds) but the Hunter of Genius made it through to the final of the SA Blog Awards?!

Standing shoulder to shoulder with the legendary ZAblogging iconTertia, the muscular supercharged Stopforth blog, the clearly well-fed ElectricSpaghetti and Peas on Toast, the one all the girls will be voting for: KykNoord, butt-ugly but potent 2OceansVibe that swept it all up last year again, the wildy popular Muso, TrashMedia that comes preloaded with their own merchandise!.. and then hey.. the low profile geek-girl sitting at the table with all the beautiful people. (thank you voting-angels xx)

Popularity contests don’t exactly get my stoic self quivering with delight – I’m far too stern & serious for such flimsy excuses to wiggle your wares.

Fortunately, there is one redeeming feature about this one: and of course the only reason that I would even consider tottering about before the judges in my less thanpopularity-contest1.jpg stiletto-sophistication (plz remember I’m a geek here & so not naturally given to glamour).. and that is ‘cos I cracked the GROWN-UP’s section!! hooooray!! Best writing. Small mercies. Some dignity.

Oddly I feel a wave of relief, like the skinny kid that finally gets picked for a playground ball game. [alrighty, I think I've officially been in front of my screen too long!] LOL

popularity contestant :-P

SO even though I don’t give a damn about popularity.. naturally. Tap lightly on the little pic to see if we can’t swing statistical probabilty. Just for fun! Do it for that insecure kid you may have once been :-P

Choose me! Choose me! (oh damn, maybe I should’ve saved time & just embellished with kiddies & kittens instead! If I gave damn, of course)

PS. Thanks to my darling Web AddiCT(s) for their work on making the setting the stage & prepping the runway & getting the satin sashes ready and the formidable Jon Cherry for conceiving such a wonderfully twisted way for ZAbloggers to beg for approval in such an elegant fashion

I have been called many things, especially in recent times, but muscular has not been a prominent adjective. I’ll thank you for that, take it and run. Fact that you were referring to my blog is irrelevant. Now I have muscles. Yippee.

And, dude, the fact that I need a Dictionary, Thesaurus, Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops just to understand your posts pretty much gives testimony to the other-worldliness off your written word. Keep up the inspiration.

oh damn I am honoured, two fabulous men bolstering my confidence already, by the end of the week I could be strutting a hipsway with the best of them – thanks Camden & Stopforth

Now Mike, you’re turning it into Jurassic Park. While she only tries to give us a Cerebral Spark (no, no subliminal advertising there, but contact me for the copyright ©2007) :-)

Voted for the kid anyway – at least she keeps us off the street in a healthy way (as I usually have to re-read her posts – 3 times, on average, I’m afraid LOL).

Looks like we’ll have to roll our own this time. Elitist Gauteng bastards!

  • Jerome said:

And did you write ‘other-worldliness’, meaning ‘other-wordliness’?

Man, does she pull it all together: ‘Wikibulary’ – is that a word…

  • Mike said:

Wow I’ve stumbled upon a whole community of SA bloggers, I’ve never met before, through these finalist listings. I feel like the insecure new kid here, but I love your writing, so I’ll be voting for you.
