If you woke up, without responsibilities, anyone/anything else to support (remember this is just hypothetical of course), no heavy mortgages, company to run, job to go to. You had resources and time and the refresh button had just been pressed - you somehow stepped elegantly into another parallel life where you’d made different choices. You are completely free to invest your time & energy where you please:
Would you still choose to do what you’re doing today?
.. just out of curiosity. Hunters of genius are curious by nature..

.. just in case you needed convincing :-P to get your ass to one of our dinners
PS. if you’re a new kid on the blog, no matter where you find yourself on the planet, brace yourself, once you fire it up, whether personal or business .. blogs change lives unquestionably (and I believe will shift the global economy in ways unimagined too - watch the fractal pattern throughout history: culture precedes commerce). Get connected to others exploring the edge >> in your neighbourhood

..how I did it, I’m not sure (on my pretty but decidedly malnourished site, starved of attention & daily feeds) but the Hunter of Genius made it through to the final of the SA Blog Awards?!
Standing shoulder to shoulder with the legendary ZAblogging iconTertia, the muscular supercharged Stopforth blog, the clearly well-fed ElectricSpaghetti and Peas on Toast, the one all the girls will be voting for: KykNoord, butt-ugly but potent 2OceansVibe that swept it all up last year again, the wildy popular Muso, TrashMedia that comes preloaded with their own merchandise!.. and then hey.. the low profile geek-girl sitting at the table with all the beautiful people. (thank you voting-angels xx)
Popularity contests don’t exactly get my stoic self quivering with delight - I’m far too stern & serious for such flimsy excuses to wiggle your wares.

…thanks to NicHarry for a new fun space to play in and celebrate why we who are crazy & brave enough to live in South Africa love it here ;-) on SA Rocks!
[Clever fellow! I feel all special, produce content & tell my mates etc.etc. virtuous cycle - SARocks is one of many blogs I've been asked to contribute to, but since I haven't got my GTD down to perfection yet I'm only taking on one other blog.. which I'll tell you about tomorrow. There seems to be a spate of this artful network leveraging - because it works! ]
I’m rocking the regular Monday spot to give a little vooma to begin the week >> ignition with customary opinionated passion for the first post: Why SA can’t afford to be a tarty date
If you have the time to swing your eyeballs over I’d love a little feedback - though I think I may be perpetuating the myth of lions roaming the streets with the pic (lol, mythinformation)
PS. I know the header’s a little goofy! Suggestions always welcome

V’day indeed! If I must surrender to silliness of Valentine’s day: then my untimebound valentine - verily the very essence of victory :-P the seriously ravishable Churchill (I know I’ve gone on about him before but) he truly embodied genius:
- creatively (he could rival Edison in prolific applied innovation & outperform any in creative strategy - to win a megalithic war you gotta have some deep skills.. and of course he painted and wrote - damn well)
- in unparalleled courage with which he impassioned a nation,
- in clarity of vision &
- communicating it in such style and of course
- the wow!factor of his unstoppable determination
- the dangerous scalpel-sharp wit coupled with a charisma & character large enough to change the course of history. Profound leadership.
C’mon, how could one not fall in love with the delicious curmugeonly chap. Brittle, arrogant, drunken and dogmatic perhaps but perfection holds little delight for me. Francis Bacon said it best:
There is no excellent beauty that hath not strangeness in its proportion
although Feynman may nudge him out in the funstakes, ..oh gosh and then there’s always marvellous Mozart: who truly understood the nature of genius
| Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius - Mozart |
Oh the delights of great men to adore, if I started a list now I’d be engulfed >> from an adoring little huntress of those wild & wonderful : in celebration of men of courage, curiosity, creativity, character, com… (oops, I almost started giving away the What Makes Genius symptom list!) if you are daring to do something remarkable today I wish you a real V’day ..for Victory

Saturday night is the first of the 27dinners in Jo’burg and the lineup looks epic.. friends Paul (he of chilibean fame) Dave (the
marvellous marketing geek) & MsRitz are on the speakers roll…& the guest list is throbbing with some fine form! I know Mike’s organising the whole shebang & maybe a little busy on the night but I’m sure he’ll get up there too & reveal a little of his legendary energy & insight into the wild opportunities abounding for South Africa in tech & marketing.
.. AND no doubt he & Dave will be celebrating Cerebra’s launch (at long last!!)
Really almost sad that I’m staying in midsummer’s paradise, on the beach in Cape Town & not heading to the big bad city for the fun. I’ll have to wait for a whole month till 27 rocks the MotherCity.. so heads up to those not going to Jozi for the premier edition because you’ve got a month to make plans to combine business & pleasure on the 27th of Feb. Go to your diary NOW >>

I was courting the quirky gods of quantum mechanics I think.. for those of you who are getting the geekdinner post twice on your reader, apologies. I had to reconstruct quickly (but :’-( lost those great comments)
The original post just vapourised! not a trace of it.. like an electron twinkling in & out of existence, one minute it was there, then I turned back and *poof* gone. Anyone who has ANY clue why on earth this could ‘ve happened please clue me in - our WebAddiCT perhaps has an answer?

oh hooray.. silly season is almost in full bloom, and the grown-ups get to play too.
Blogger tag coupled with a postsecret edge attached. I got tagged by Stopforth who was tagged by Dave Gale who started the game.. naughty Mike said it was 5 dirty little secrets (shriek!) but thankfully, tootling over to source I saw: it need only be 5 things not many people know about you - whew!! reprieve.
So herewith 5 (maybe oddball) lesser known aspects of Ms Maximillian Kaizen: Continue reading ‘Tag Tag Tag Tag Tag’

..words emblazoned on my spirit, From poetess Mary Oliver, that I shared this morning with some bravehearted entrepreneurs (recent escapees from corporate slavery), angel investors and assorted inspiring beings who refuse to squander their youth & fire to the smothering comfort of safe employment..

(a quick visual follow on from yesterday).. for the celeb spotter in us all.. this really did it for me (don’t think you’re immune BTW). We all have our heroes and villians who populate the ancient story, which appears to be deeply embedded into every human OS.
If you haven’t read what I believe may well be the most important books on cracking the code, grab a copy of Joseph Cambell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces
or hunt one down.. promise it’s WORTH IT!
..and figure out why Harvard’s deeply revered Howard Gardner (he of the theory of multiple intelligences) said:
Stories constitute the single most powerful weapon in a leader’s arsenal
