The Day Job

The day job Max researches, teaches and writes courseware on the tools/adaptive thinking required to grasp the Internet & mobile technologies for business schools, universities, corporations and non-profits around the world, from the glorious city of Cape Town at the tiptoe of Africa.

I have the privilege of working primarily with the brilliant Dave Duarte. Human-computer interactions and how we make sense of it for business, power, relationships, economics, and our evolution is at the heart of our work. We build both outstanding premium executive-education programmes for grand-sized institutions and open courseware, social learning with our educators community. It is wonderful world-class work to be proud of.

I melt tech-terror with whatever learning methods work, be it online learning networks, podcasts, video, games, forums, lectures, transmedia storytelling, think-tanks, field trips, it’s all fair game in the quest to craft brain-friendly, useful, accelerated learning experiences.

As a hunter of genius I help to accelerate time for others. I have a knack for scouting the pioneering edges, wading into great troughs of data and through the annals of time and discovering gems – the tools, case-studies, hacks, just-in-time genius. I experiment, log and then build safe knowledge-sharing spaces and gather minds to contextualize and give the knowledge life. Rarely in a classroom.

“I think you should profit from the mistakes of others. You don’t live long enough to make them all yourself.” – Lowell Ferguson

My duty here is to spread the infectious joy of learning (as a survival skill). To curate brilliance from whichever obscure corner it may be hunted. To stave off the stale dominion of peddlers of superstition.
To make smart the new sexy.
